We need an experienced academic or an experienced technician for our laboratory. The primary focus is on sampling and radiochemical analysis for environmental radioactivity monitoring. Your passion should be in the practical work including field trips for collecting environmental and food samples, and laboratory sample analysis for radioactivity determination and maintaining relevant equipment. You will be daily responsible securing effective implementation of environmental radioactivity monitoring projects.
Sampling and radiochemical analysis play important roles in many of our projects at the department. Our researchers are dependent on our attention to quality in the sampling and analytical process. You will be part of DTU Sustain’s Risø Laboratory – a leading laboratory in Europe within environmental radioactivity and radiochemical analysis.
Based on your competencies and experience you will search information in relevant scientific literature, implement and develop sampling techniques and analytical methods. You will be in close collaboration with other technicians and researchers as part of our laboratory technician team. You will work with collection, preparation and running of large sample series, calculation of results, including quality assurance before the delivery and communication of results to researchers and customers.
Education and experience with environmental radioactivity
The ideal candidate has more than 5 years of relevant practical experience with in-field sampling, radiochemical analysis and competencies on a bachelor degree level. It will be an advantage to have experience from a certified laboratory.
We expect:
- Experience with literature search
- Ability to perform independent in-field sampling, preparation of method descriptions and procedures
- In depth knowledge of different types of instruments for radioactivity measurements (alpha, beta, gamma, ICP-MS, ICP-OES), software, data, and data treatment
- In depth knowledge of quality assurance
- Flair for method development and troubleshooting
- That you have excellent communication skills in English and a Scandinavian language, or willing to learn a Scandinavian language.
- A structured, but flexible and responsible approach
- Ability to prioritize tasks and to get them finalized
- A constructive approach to new tasks in the collaboration with your colleagues

Salary and appointment terms
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Confederation of Professional Associations or other relevant union. The allowance will be agreed with the relevant union.
The position is full time. Starting date according to mutual agreement.
The working place will be at DTU Risø Campus.
