A landscape laboratory for excellent research
We want to create a vast landscape laboratory on at least 1,500 hectares for excellent and innovative research on transforming conventional agricultural and forestry practices into globally relevant sustainable and healthy land use solutions with perspectives on human sustenance, climate, wood production, environmental protection, ecosystems, and biodiversity.

Within this well-documented and well-monitored landscape laboratory, we also want to demonstrate how multifunctional land use can provide a framework for sustainable development on our crowded and heavily exploited planet.

The planned landscape laboratory, which will be open to both national and international research proposals, is situated in Skjoldungernes Land National Park. Its academic affiliation is at Globe Institute, University of Copenhagen, and its secretariat at Skjoldungernes Land National Park, located at Ledreborg Castle.

Among other things, the Research Coordinator’s tasks will include:

  • Organizing scientific workshops to discuss the purpose and potential of a grand-scale landscape laboratory.
  • Facilitating coordination and communication between universities researchers and other stakeholders nationally and internationally to nurture the development of a landscape laboratory.
  • Preparing a proposal for the establishment and use of a landscape laboratory.
  • Overseeing the digitization of Ledreborg Estate's historical land use data.
  • Overseeing the creation of a detailed digital terrain model.
  • Overseeing the establishment of a baseline of natural resources, ecosystems and biodiversity in the landscape laboratory.
  • Outlining management plans for the landscape laboratory, including spatial zonation of landscape research activities.
We expect that you:

  • Are a creative, out-going and academically experienced scientist at PhD-level (or higher) with experience in project coordination, fundraising and building network relations.
  • Have a geo- or bio-sciences background, though this is not mandatory.
  • Are a team player and can collaborate and communicate with highly diverse research groups in Denmark and abroad.
  • Are fluent in written and spoken Danish and English and have experience producing research applications, reviews, minutes, visions, etc.
  • Possess organizational and practical talent to plan and execute workshops, events, etc.
  • Have a dream and the drive to find sustainable solutions to our planet's significant challenges.

Salary and employment conditions
Salary and employment conditions will be in accordance with the current collective agreement between the Ministry of Taxation and Academics in the State, with the possibility of negotiating supplements in accordance with our salary policy.

Expected entry into the position november the 1st 2024.

Skjoldungernes Land National Park is one of five national parks in Denmark and is located in the beautiful and varied fjord and estate landscape near Roskilde.

The secretariat at Skjoldungernes Land National Park has 12 employees and is situated at Ledreborg Castle, Ledreborg Allé 2A, 4320 Lejre.
