The job
We require a Lab Manager who can deal with a highly complex project portfolio, while keeping a holistic view and making sure that we utilize the resources in the best possible way by making the right prioritization of resources in collaboration with project managers.

You will be heading a team of four engineers/scientists and four research technicians and refer to the Head of Section. You will continuously develop your team members towards excellence and provide guidance when dealing with challenging innovative and cutting-edge projects.

You will have the following roles and work tasks:

  • Day to day planning, team and operations management
  • Keep overview of work tasks and make them visible for other stakeholders
  • Develop work procedures, decision processes and introduce planning/management system
  • Support project managers and customers in defining and designing tests
  • Make test budget and commercial offers
  • Contribute to strategic decision for future development of facility and equipment
  • Preparation and implementation of health & safety procedures
  • Preparation and implementation of quality and data management procedures to comply with the accreditation (ISO17025)
  • Facilitate training and specialization of your team members, optimize use of resources

Our expectations of you
You hold a Msc degree in Material Science, Mechanical Engineering or similar. You have a broad technical background and good understanding of material testing.

Furthermore, you have some of the following background and qualifications:

  • Experienced in project management
  • Ability to lead a team and get your stakeholders onboard
  • Ability to manage a portfolio of highly complex projects where plans often change
  • Experience with ISO 17025 certification is an advantage
  • Scripting skills (MatLab, Python) and Programming is an advantage
  • You are proactive, practical with a can-do attitude and an energy that inspires
  • You naturally take the lead, motivate and develop the whole project team on a day-to-day basis
  • Good communication skills_ English is the work language
  • Experience with having multiple contact points internally and externally and with your assertive and diplomatic personality, you excel at teamwork and managing your stakeholders – even in situations with conflicts and opposing interests
  • Solid planning and project management skills and a good ability to oversee and manage large, complex, diverse and strategic projects
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to challenge conventional thinking, and you bring advanced skills in risk assessment and mitigation

You are keen to further develop the collaboration with national and international research institutes and industries through collaborative projects and scientific advice to the wind energy industry.

Salary and appointment terms
Salary and employment conditions in accordance with the OAO-S joint agreement and organization agreement for Engineering Assistants and research technicians at research institutions or the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations.

The position is a full-time position and the workplace is DTU Risø Campus. The daily working language is English.
